After 3 weeks on the move, it was great for the kids to hae some friends from home to play with and the site gave us all we needed and much more. With all the shops, cafe's, restaurants, 3 pools, slides, parks, mini golf, ponies, clean new facilities (loos and showers) it was a great place to be based. And that was just on site. There were also plenty of organised trips around the area, a free bus service into town (which was only a 10 minute walk anyway), a busy beach and beautiful port and town to explore.
The kids had all fallen in love with Toni's Ponies (a lesser known traditional Spanish name) and used to hang around his site in the evenings to help out. They got plenty of rides and also got to help taking the ponies back to the stables later on at night which they all enjoyed very much.
In town we had found lots of things that we liked, in particular a small bar close by that sold food at good prices and cold wine cheap as chips. There was plenty for the kids to do there as well with video games and pool, but what they really enjoyed was the bingo, disco and kareoke (although not too much when Mum or Dad sang after a few vino's!)
L'Estartit was a place we all felt comfortable in. Spanish but with a hint of England (Premiership footy on the TV and English grub if you wanted). Its probably not everyone's cup of tea but we loved the place and will definately go back again some time. Unfortunately our extended stay was coming to an end.
We just had one last day which we chose to spend at one of our favourite places, a water park in Platja D'Aro (AquaDiver).
It was another hot and sunny day, but the park was quite quiet. Perhaps because of the end of the season or close to schools going back, we didn't care. It meant the rides were queue free and so we got loads of go's and not much hanging around.
It was sad that it was our last day in the area and also a milestone for us. After the water park we began the next leg of the journey, but this time, for the first on the trip we would be heading north (ish).
On towards Santander, our ferry back to UK and our onward trip to London. But thats for the next blog.
Chris
